Soundcloud + Facebook = Root Music

The Rising Digital camp has long been a fan of Soundcloud. We do in fact love it. Not only does it look slick, but delivers on what we need for our clients. From sending out promos, to getting feedback, it does the lot. The only thing we ever thought it lacked was compatibility with the world dominating Facebook. Soundcloud is a pretty new company though and these integrations/apps take time. Anything we did use to get the service onto Facebook somehow lost the slickness and never really did what we wanted.

Then along came Root Music Band Pages. An answer to our prayers? Almost! Not only can we easily show our Soundcloud tracks on this page, but can also swiftly enter client dates. Is this goodbye to iLike I hear you whisper?

iLike has its merits and being able to inform people the exact location of events through adding the veune address is a great concept. The key word there though is concept. When faced with a list of more than 30 dates (per client may I add) and you have to find the addresses for each and every one the word swift doesn't come into play. If only they had given the option to not enter the address! Oh and not to have Ibiza as an Island in it's own right?! Are you kidding me?!

With Root Music none of this is a problem. You merely click on each box, enter location, venue, date and time and voila. You can enter additional information such as event price or other artists playing if you so wish. The real beauty is you can scroll down and look at the Facebook wall within the page as well as checking out all the artist's latest tweets. You can even post to the wall from within the page. I must admit we haven't used this as a landing page for our clients though, as we prefer fans to land on the wall and be greeted by all the interaction and updates.

I think the sheer simplicity and ease of updating anything in this application makes it a winner. The only downside we've found is there's no option to put buy links in for events like we are given with iLike, but I wouldn't be surprised if that functionality was to follow soon. In fact, as those lovely people over at Root Music are so keen to get feedback I'll go and put that forward now.

Vicky :)
